The African Family Services Foundation Inc. 2025/25 Report

Dear donors.

The ten months chair of African Family trip to Africa was a successful one. The chair managed to achieve important targets. The African Family Services Foundation (AFSF) runs three projects in Aweil, South Sudan. The three projects are the vocational school, the medical center and the library.

Hence, the vocational school achieved the objectives of which it was established for. The school, in its eight-year tenure successfully trained hundreds of youths in the field of carpentry. Additionally, AFSF) has four programs leading to six months certificate programs. Unfortunately, the rest of four programs have never been introduced due to lack of funds and financial constrained.

The St. Josephine Medical Center was progressive and provided the most needed medical services to the vulnerable people of Malek Alel. The lack of medical supplies and financial support hindered progress. The operational cost was the real issue.

The library has made great progress in the town of Aweil. The citizens of Mading Aweil embraced it and appreciated its existence. Adults and youth used this facility responsibly. One local Samaritan “Piol Esse” provided free electricity. The light supply was great support which allowed the library to operate at night.

However, the three projects left great impact on the life of Aweil town people. People become happy and grateful to the donors. Sadly, there are three problems which hinder progress. The main one is the operational cost; we never had yearly fixed budget. We depend solely on St. Mary’s parishioners which dwindling every year. Additionally, we depend on friendly churches, private institutions and finally, we arrange fundraising parties in our communities.

To conclude, the trip to Africa achieved its goals of which it was established for. The chair managed wholly or partially to resolve long standing issues. A new board of directors has been installed.

Finally, would like to thank friends for  their dedication, perseverance, and unwavering support to the “AFSF” of New York.
